Apologies if you noticed anything funny going on with the site this morning. I’m starting to renovate around here and updates will be postponed until I get everything squared away, which will probably be the end of August. (Crossing fingers..)
In the meantime, check out the work of one of my favorite illustrators, Colorblok!

Check out these animal prints from zand2ohs. Most screenprinted works tend to be too fussy for my tastes, but these are so wonderfully minimal and graphic. The Flamingos print is available at Etsy.

I love coming across finds like this that combine fashion, history, and art. This stenciled print by Georges Lepape was created in 1911! “Les Choses de Paul Poiret V” is sold, but there are a few more pieces available for purchase on the website.
(I am so surprised at how much it resembles modern illustration today..)

Los Angeles!! Felt Club is this weekend. I am very excited. Looking forward to stocking up on the following crafting supplies and other crafty goodies:
Mushroom pincushions from Cathy of California:

Origami-inspired accessories from Feisty Elle:

Felt jewelry from Skipping Stones:

And Dandy Brand’s felt owl pins:

Soft and pretty illustrations from Kelly Smith:

For those in L.A. looking for something new to do on a weekend -
MOCA is currently running their Night Vision event every Saturday night for the summer. It’s free with $8 admission to the museum, and they have music, screenings, a bar, and cool art workshops like making a button pin with your own design from cut-up paper currency. Fake, of course!
I really enjoyed their current exhibition, Poetics of the Handmade. The individually carved lipsticks – all 2,200 of them – by Chilean artist Livia Marin are truly a must-see in person:

Chicadecanela was kind enough to link to me last month, and I’m glad they did, otherwise I wouldn’t have found out about all the cute handcrafted goodies sold on the site. Just darling!

Those Versace resort pieces also remind me of the artistically shot photographs of smoke found on the Artsmoke community. Like this darling shot:

I love looking at these acrylic sculptures from Mary Elizabeth Davis. So organic and ornate (and definitely suggestive!). What I love most is that you can see almost anything if you use your imagination – anything from flowers to candy to Baroque decor. The bottom left one looks like a squid to me!
