Sarah Sloboda has an intriguing style of photography, particularly with children. Her photos are neither precious nor precocious, the two categories that such portraits usually fall into. I am also a fan of her blog, the University of Sarah, where she documents her artistic experiments behind - and even in front of - the camera.

I found photographer Ramona Rosales flipping through the newest issue of Flaunt Magazine that I picked up at the Flaunt Hennessy party last week. Her work is so up my alley! I love the ironic, almost dark, sense of humor that lies underneath her photos’ glossy surface.

Even if you’re not located in perpetually warm climates like I am, sweet sunny days can be found in the pages of Urban Outfitter’s current catalog. I have been collecting their catalogs since 2003, and this one is the latest to join the inspiration pile. It is light leaks and flares galore, thanks to photographer Clarke Tolton. I’m not sure when they started crediting photographers or if they always have and I just never noticed, but I’m glad they do.
Although in all fairness, I have no immediate access to a pool or grassy fields. Can’t have it all.

I am so intrigued by these photos by Philip Karlberg. It’s all yummy and pink and very Marie Antoinette, but with a dark underlying message that you can’t quite put your finger on. (Other than the chiaroscuro-ish lighting - check out his other work to see what I mean.) Then you remember that hey, you’re looking at pictures of yummy cakes, and that was never a bad thing. Love that rose cake, by the way. And gosh, I really want a macaroon. [via]

I’ve admired Yvonne Wong’s creative ability long before I knew she was a photographer, when I caught sight of her stunnningly modern wedding in a Seattle loft. Her photography style is so fresh and modern, and I can’t help but love the strong architectural lines that compose a lot of her pictures.

This photo is from the Wanderlust series by photographer Kanako Sasaki. I love the element of playful mystery that keeps you wanting to click from photo to photo. (And the rest of her work too!)

I am patiently waiting to be the first to buy prints from Heartdew.net, and with good reason. Each photo is so stunningly simple and uncontrived. As one commenter mentions about this photo: “You’ve found fantasy even in rush hour traffic”.
And I can’t help but mention that she has great clothes too.
