The Art in the Streets exhibition at MOCA, Juxtapoz Magazine, April 2011

Yes, I miss L.A. immensely and at times wonder why I had to move at such a time when the creative energy is so vibrant and only emerging there, especially in downtown. The much-anticipated Art in the Streets exhibition kicked off at MOCA last weekend, featuring the work of graffiti and street artists around the U.S. Levi’s Film Workshop is also being held at the museum, and Juxatoz Magazine’s current issue is all about said exhibition.

To live and die in L.A. It’s the place to be.

Pat Ramos Photography

I am having a lot of fun updating the Tumblr, so follow there for more frequent updates. I recently fell in love with Pat Ramos‘ photography. So soft and feminine, but with a dash of daring to ground it from looking too dreamy. And this particular light neutral shade is defining a springtime that is yet to come in my neck of the woods.

I think I’ve eaten a donut for every day that I’ve lived in the Pacific Northwest, even though I never ate donuts down in L.A., so the packaging for J Dilla’s Donut Shop by Studio Number One resonates with me right at the moment.

Rodarte For Opening Ceremony

I am currently reading, and very much loving, The Virgin Suicides for the first time. The retro romantic pieces from Rodarte for Opening Ceremony seem to hearken the same bygone era.

The February film from Kate Spade's Live Colorfully

Those too-twee stop motion animation pieces reached saturation point last year, but I think the pink February film from Kate Spade’s Live Colorfully campaign, by Part and Parcel, is adorable and speaks to the my bookish side.

Pleated skirts long and short make an appearance in Who What Wear’s latest editorial, Pink About It. I love the fresh combination of light neutrals, poppy pinks, and taupes.

Since I’m no longer living in L.A., I hope you’ll be a dear and attend the Poster Peepshow: The Art of the Pinup exhibition, opening at Gallery Nucleus this weekend for me. If you’re not in the area either, I guess we can just wait until next week to view all the T&A online.

Anthropologie’s upcoming wedding brand, BHLDN, has got me all sorts of excited with detailed shots of their dresses. Their bridal line looks more pared down than the main store’s offerings, which I really like. Coming just in time for Valentine’s Day!

Adios L.A. I recently made the move from Los Angeles to the state of Washington – pretty big, since it’s my first time living outside of California! I will eventually settle in the city of Seattle once things get sorted out, but for now I am enjoying the trees, the cold, and the coffee in other parts of the Pacific Northwest.

Yes, yes, the boots are amazing, but let’s talk about the photo for a minute. The colors, the composition, the understated bohemian-luxe flair. I hope to see more amazing shoes from No. 6 this year.

So fresh and so clean is Wilfred’s Le Fou Fall 2010 collection. Love the warm shades with shots of black and navy.

Pieces like this make me wish I had taken up illustration, but I’m better off admiring those who can do it far better than I ever could. Like Filipino designer and illustrator Dan Matutina who created the Moon Sonata wallpaper for Kitsune Noir. [via]
